Transporting and loading workpieces weighing several tonnes requires the utmost care and attention. This page provides information on load securing and other requirements applicable to our loading personnel, your own drivers and drivers employed by haulage companies. The safety of our employees and service providers is extremely important to us. We must therefore insist that these rules and requirements are observed.
We are happy to advise you on these matters and provide the following guidance to help ensure smooth loading and unloading operations.
Please include a detailed delivery note with your shipment.
Your delivery note must contain:
Ensure that the haulage company receives the information on this page. Missing or incorrect delivery notes and inadequate load-securing equipment may cause significant delays or result in us refusing to unload or load the vehicle.
We cannot unload a shipment without a delivery note. If the driver has no documents, we may issue a temporary handwritten delivery note for individual items and ask the customer to provide the original. If a vehicle contains numerous different workpieces intended for us, unloading will not begin until the original delivery note has been received.
You are welcome to use our notification service below or link to this page from your website.
Our delivery terms are generally EXW (Ex Works), so arranging collection of the workpieces is your responsibility.
Because our customers use many different carriers, it is standard practice for you to book the collection of your workpieces with your own carrier.
Please have the delivery note sent with our completion notice or your collection order ready. Present the collection order at our office to receive the delivery documents. Your driver must acknowledge receipt by entering the vehicle registration number and signing them. The documents also include a forklift loading slip. This slip identifies the workpieces and contains customer-specific information and any special loading requirements. Once the driver has received all documents, they should return to their vehicle and wait for the loading personnel. The loading personnel will take the forklift loading slip and use it to identify the workpieces. Labels on the workpieces allow each item to be matched clearly to its slip.
Partial collections are possible on request.
Follow the loading personnel’s instructions at all times. Stay by your vehicle and keep well clear of forklifts. Do not enter the production halls. Communication in German or English is preferred.
Follow the loading personnel’s instructions at all times.
After machining, the workpiece is returned to the same packaging condition in which it was received. For example, if it arrived secured to a pallet, it will be secured to that pallet again after machining.
The packaging condition is stated on the delivery note. If you require different packaging, please contact our sales team.
We do not exchange Euro pallets.
If necessary or requested, workpieces delivered loose can be secured to a Euro pallet. Anti-slip mats and chocks are used for this purpose. The cost of these materials is not covered by a pallet exchange, so we must charge for the Euro pallet, chocks and anti-slip mats.
If you know in advance how your workpieces will be delivered, please tell us what packaging you expect at collection when making your enquiry. We can then include it in our quotation.
The safe transport of your workpieces is very important to us. However, we cannot keep special packaging available for every workpiece or material. Please protect your products with suitable packaging.
Steel distributors ship most workpieces loose (unpacked) on suitable vehicles.
Not every carrier can transport loose workpieces. To ensure safe transport, the workpieces must be secured to the vehicle floor using suitable tie-down equipment.
We can provide load-securing materials such as beams, chocks and anti-slip mats for an additional charge. These will be listed on the delivery note and become your property when the workpieces are unloaded. For operational reasons, we cannot lend load-securing materials.
If the load cannot be secured in accordance with the applicable requirements because the securing equipment is inadequate or the transport vehicle is unsuitable, we will refuse to load it.
Our load-securing specialist and loading team receive regular training from external experts and will be happy to advise you.
If you have questions about load securing, please email ladungssicherung@tiefbohren.eu or call us.
Please download the current load-securing requirements and forward them to your carrier or dispatch department.
By default, your workpieces are stored outdoors in our yard. As deep-hole drilling is often an early machining step, the workpieces are frequently treated as raw material. We therefore generally follow the packaging practices used by steel distributors and forges.
Indoor storage or special packaging must be agreed in advance and ordered as an additional service. Please state this clearly on your order and delivery note. For indoor storage, the delivery note and the workpiece itself must be clearly marked “Indoor storage”. Indoor storage is required, for example, for finished or partly finished workpieces. It helps prevent corrosion and provides better protection against mechanical damage, airborne corrosion and contact corrosion. This service differs from our standard procedure and involves additional work, so please specify it when requesting a quotation.
Our loading personnel are instructed to avoid contact corrosion between stainless steel workpieces and carbon steel. However, we cannot entirely rule it out for pre-machined workpieces that are delivered loose and without protective packaging.
You can send an email directly to your carrier or driver and add your own notes. Clicking the button below opens your default email application (for example, Outlook).
